Command Printing
To print a list of custom NaturallySpeaking commands, where the commands have been created with the Command Wizard or by directly editing the global.dvc file:
- Open the global.dvc file for the user (or system) into MS-Word97 (The same fundamental steps work in WordPerfect -- but not in the NaturallySpeaking editor.)
- Copy the portion of the global.dvc file of interest to a new, blank document. That is, copy the portion that contains the custom macros. Fortunately these are usually at the end of each application section, nicely grouped together.
- Switch and work with the new file, that contains the entire custom macros.
- Do a "Select All", then under Table, do a Convert Text to Table. Use only one column and break on "paragraphs". Once converted to a table (one line of the global.dvc file per row in the table), do Table/Sort. This puts all the
COMMAND lines together, which is usually what I need. (In WordPerfect, you can skip putting this into a table and just sort the file directly.)
- Delete the rows that don't have the
COMMAND statement. This leaves one with just the list of "interesting" commands.
- (Optional) Depending on the purpose, you now have a list of new commands, or else you may want to edit the lines -- they are a bit messy. Use Find/Replace to delete the "{" at the end of each line and the
COMMAND at the start of each line. Use Table/Convert Table to Text to get the lines out of "table" format (not needed with WordPerfect). Format to suit for printing.
Starting with Release 6, there is a commercial program, SayWhat Pro, that makes printing of custom commands easier.
