Changing Default Font for NaturallySpeaking

  • Changing Default Font for NaturallySpeaking

Many of you will not like the default font for NaturallySpeaking. The parameters for the font and the font size are in a text file associated with each user. The file is, by default, C:\Program Files\Dragon\NaturallySpeaking\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\current\options.ini.

Within this text file, you (or your computer guru) can add lines of the general form:

    enx Default Font=Times New Roman
    enx Default Font Size=300

The Default Font Size is specified as 20 times the desired font size -- the above is taken from a demo system where I prefer 15 point font as the default so that multiple persons can read the text without squinting. If using Preferred and the above does not work, try dropping the leading "enx ". For languages other than English, the "enx" is replaced by a code appropriate to the language -- "esp" for Spanish, "fra" for French, "jpn" for Japanese, "ita" for Italian, "deu" for German, ...

Dragon, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't support users making changes in this options.ini file -- save a copy of the options.ini file before you edit it so that if you have problems you can see if they are related to changes you make in the file prior to calling Tech Support. Make certain that you include this file in your normal backups!

These changes only impact the font in the NaturallySpeaking application -- not the font in any other application such as Word, WordPerfect, etc.
