Excess Files : Known Release 7 Errors
On this release, there is a propensity for the user files to get huge. Several GB is fairly common. But most of the files are useless. The user file locations vary -- look for the NaturallySpeaking folder, then the Users folder and then the individual folders by user.
- There are folders in the user "current" (and replicated in the backup) directory with the names TB1.0, TB1.1, ... At best keeping the newest of these directories is potentially useful. These seem to build up as one abnormally terminates sessions.
- Within the user files, sometimes huge numbers of ".dra" files are collected. These might be used by the Acoustic Optimizer, but analysis indicates most of these files are not. You can (a) run the Acoustic Optimizer and then delete these .dra files or (b) forego running the Acoustic Optimizer and get rid of these files.
- In extreme cases, if you need disk space immediately, deleting the "backup" directory will free up substantial space. But that space will be recreated when you first save your user files.
