Automatic Updates - AGENT.EXE
Release 8 has an Administrative option to automatically check for updates. With the option on, some security software will appropriately question running of the AGENT.EXE file that is installed with DNS 8.
- This file is almost certainly "safe."
- The agent.exe file is in an InstallShield directory. It may be used by other programs installed on your system.
- To avoid security warnings or to reduce background load you can disable the option. I suggest that most users should disable the option because historically updates have been at the rate of about one per year.
- To disable, Close your active user. Then go to Tools, Administrative Options. Uncheck the "check for product updates at startup" box. OK the change, open a user. The change takes effect the next time you start DNS 8.
