Proof of prior version is required to install upgrade versions for the Medical products.
There are several upgrades to Dragon Medical 10. This page is only for those with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 8 or 9 Medical or Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 Medical Small Practice Edition. These offers do not apply to those with OLP licenses for these products. If you have questions, please contact us at info@pcspeak.com or by phone at 602-375-0998.
For Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 Medical Small Practice Edition users, there is a choice to make. Either stay with Small Practice Edition, or upgrade/convert to Medical. What are the differences? Two significant ones, each of which only affect a few users. First is that Release 10 Medical supports dictation into a "hidden" Dictation Box so that you can see your whole screen while dictating. Second is that it supports "fields" within its Text and Graphics macros, possibly making it easier to move from place to place within a template.
If you have a mix of Small Practice and Medical licenses, take this opportunity to move all your licenses to Medical. That may avoid technical problems that have been seen when mixing versions of NaturallySpeaking.

If you are running Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical 9 on a system you will be almost always be OK.
Release 10 requires Windows-2000 SP4, Windows-XP SP-2 (32-bit), Vista 32-bit or 64-bit, or Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit. At least 1GB RAM is suggested on Windows 2000 or Windows-XP, 2GB RAM on Windows Vista is minimal. 64-bit systems require 4GB RAM. Release 10 requires about 150MB more RAM than Release 9 and seems to require less CPU.
A minimum 1GHz CPU is required for Dragon Medical 10 products. A 1 MB or larger L2 cache is required starting with Dragon Medical 10, that primarily affects the (unusual) buyer who has a system with a CPU made by VIA (very low power, light systems), or a system using the Intel Atom CPU.
New is needing the SSE2 instruction set. What this means in practice is that some systems bought in before mid-2006, most commonly AMD systems, may not work. Sempron CPU's are specifically affected, others are too. It just won't work! Nuance has a TechNote 6027 that goes into the detail of this issue and provides information of how to determine if your system is affected.
Either a dual-core CPU, 1.6GHz or faster; or a single processor at least 2.4GHz is recommended. If your computer system does not meet these requirements, it may still be worthwhile buying an upgrade to Medical to preserve future upgrade options or to run in a slightly-slower mode.
